Re: One Ring to Rule Them All?

Well not so much a supercontinent but the oceans aren't big enough to impose hard borders on semi-aquatic species.

True carnivores and how to make them?

I often end up with herbivores or herbivores and omnivores, where the omnivores occasionally eat herbivores to supplement a less nutritious diet otherwise.

But for some reason pure carnivory seems quite rare in my evolutions. Is there any way to increase the odds?

Designing a better default aquatic species?

The normal default aquatic worms are... well... not very good at life. After several attempts even with fairly generous fertility and a wide range of temperatures and depths of water, they still require about 4 feed rovers just to stop them from dying long enough to MAYBE produce something that can ...

Re: So I created a giant underwater world...

I would recommend a longer term sim. I.E. set it to 10x speed overnight. If it doesn't crash that'll get you over ingame 3 days in 8 hours.

One Ring to Rule Them All?

I've noticed that with settings very close to the default, there is a tendency to have whole ecosystems comprising one ring species, possibly even the entire biodiversity of the world. This is interesting but also problematic for actually being able to keep track of the variants because rings are co...

Re: I can't achieve Galapgos like evolution.

Hmmmmmm. It seems to speciate under default settings for me. The only time I've ended up with giant ring species is when I messed with breeding range and mutation rate. But even then there is still a lot of evolution going on. It's just in ring species where the genetic distance between members is u...

Re: Finding the balance 0.6.1

Interesting world that worked for several in-game days before crashing: World size was normal 1.0. The terrain was all one large island, and temperature was set to be hot at the top and cold at the bottom. Fertility was set to inverse of elevation and the default value was tweaked. I got a very stab...

Re: Suicidally depressed over a low GPA

2.5 isn't low enough to mean that nobody will hire you. There are plenty of people with that GPA or lower that get very successful careers. Remember that after just 5 years of experience, people pay almost no attention to GPA. Even during college, getting connections is at least as important as gett...
