And so the fifth month has passed, with the citizens of Frye being quite active in their industries of the year, as the climate begins to warm up. Many things have transpired in the fifth month, and they are documented below:


The Elders has discussed the Current issues, and their results are recorded here.

1. Place sanctions on actions taken by the Medicants, yes or no? If yes, what sort of rules shall be in place, and how shall we enforce them?
Elamon: The Medicants have been interfering with family economics; they should be restricted.
Javen: Agree with Bouhe.
Fenris: I support any and all restrictions on Northe and/or the Medicants.
Bouhe: Yes, Northe can tell the Elders what he plans to do, the Elders can vote on it, that way, we can know more about what the Medicants are doing.
Estralia: So far, Northe has done nothing to harm anyone. I see no reason for this.
Sefiam: The Medicants and Northe have been causing civil unrest, and need to be restricted. Agree with Bouhe.
Northe: I am capable of bringing great aid to Frye! How do the families not see this?!
Final Vote: A large majority of the council amassed behind Bouhe's reasoning, and while Northe was outraged by this turn of events, the Village Elders voted that Northe was to report all major actions to the Elders before commencing with them, that the Village Elders could ensure that his power was not put to ill use. Northe argues that this limits his personal freedoms, and thus the Village Elders clarified that this new law applied to major actions, such as purchasing of plots of land, starting a business, or making major actions that would affect Frye in large-scale ways, or having the Medicants act in any way not akin to their current actions of healing and aid. Northe is furious about this, but the council can see a hint of fear in his eyes as well.

Cisse, our Bailiff, has read the letters of the powerful families and has responded accordingly.

Cisse appreciates being informed, but since no major requests have come in, he does not do anything major this month.

The powerful families have done much this past month:

Lew: -Miner Issues- 8
As the miners who signed up for the "escape" didn't return, the Shuidri that were freed have taken to possessing others in Frye. As Shuidri are small insects and difficult to find, Lew has been unable to locate them, and strange nightmares have once again began to take hold on the village of Frye, particularly near the Elforche mines. Rumors have begun to spread among the commoners that the "dark god" has begun to encroach on the village once more...

Lew: -Escape Exploration- 85
After an exhaustive search of the forest around the village, Lew has determined that whatever this escape is, it doesn't lead to anywhere in Frye's vicinity. Since the system seems to be run from the mines, this conclusion makes sense. Elforche has been using the mines for mining, not for digging long tunnels...

Lew: -Udebbha'ian Understandings- 73
The priests of the Udebbha'ian church were actually quite willing to share their doctrine with Lew, even though many of Lew's family professes to be Dabalian. They speak and reference a lot of their holy traditions, but most notably speak of the fact that Udebb'ha created humanity as pure and beautiful, in comparison to other "misshapen" races and peoples that existed before humans. They speak of the "Beast Wars" vaguely, but insist that most of the legends and stories of the "Beast Wars" have been lost or diluted to time, unfortunately. They are willing to share more information if a member of Lew were to initiate themselves into Udebbha'ian clergy, and if Lew were to publicly become Udebbha'ian.

Lew: -Farm Foregoings- 18
Unfortunately, Lew did not discover anything that would increase farm yield; their experiments instead seemed to cause the crops of this year to have stunted growth, which may result in a food shortage in the coming winter...

Lew: -Drug Doctrine- 65
Experimenting with various herb extracts on domesticated foxes has resulted in a convenient discovery. If one is to crush peppermint leaves with lemon juice, and drink the concoction, they will experience powerful throat relief from various breathing ailments. What Lew does with this knowledge is up to them.

Tannell: -Back to the Drawing Board- 12
Unfortunately for Tannell Researchers, Chained weapons don't seem to apply to their current system of measurement and engineering as their fixed counterparts. In fact, things have only gotten more confusing without live participants to try the weapons. There has also been evidence of sabotage in the research facility. This could no doubt be due to the number of angry commoners who were injured in testing, despite receiving compensation.

Tannell: -Forest Archaeology- 44
Digging up the ground around the buried structure has proven to be quite difficult, but decent progress was made, and the top layers of the structure may hopefully be fully revealed by the end of the coming month.

Tannell: -Mine Investigation- 27
Elforche was not receptive to this investigation, as it is the last one that needed to be done before the trial. The Tannell investigator could find no major condemning information inside the mines. The mines seemed to be safe and productive. The investigation was short, as Elforche Guards kept the investigator within arms reach, and gave him a brisk tour with no chance to stop and poke around.

Ferran: -Unscrupulous Recruits- 39
Ferran family members managed to locate two basic brigands from the late night streets into their service, being told only that there would come a time that they would be needed to conduct a task, for which they would be handsomely paid.

Ferran: -Special Snowflakes- 96
Ferran emissaries to Shaake, Traye, and Donu managed to uncover three people who professed to have magic capabilities, who were more than happy to be hired by Ferran, at least temporarily, to show off their abilities. The first one, a Shaake Bard, who played frequently at the inn in Shaake, was known for having musical abilities that could lull even the most energized person to sleep in under a minute. The second, a wanderer found in Donu, would pay his hosts for his lodging by turning their water into wine, and could also make dead fish leap about as if alive when thrown into a hot frying pan. Finally, a woman in Traye was known for being able to predict the future in the short term, and gave people wise and accurate advice on what to do each day. Each of them accepted Ferran's generous hiring fee, and have reported to Ferran's family estate, awaiting further instructions.

Ferran: -Arson Tracking- 93
Following the investigation of the previous month, Ferran's emissaries managed to track Arson man down in Donu, and took him back into the fold. Arson man was grateful that his employers found him, and happily accepted to return to Ferran's family estate, ready to do whatever they asked.

Ferran: -Gold Digging- 47
Most mine workers were not intelligent enough to comprehend Ferran's wishes (commoner scum!) but several saw the opportunity to make a few extra gold coins and were more than happy to work with Ferran in this matter. So far, Ferran has not learned much of note, except confirmation that Lew wasn't lying about the "escape sign-up sheet" in the mine.

Ferran: -Counter Census- 76
Ferran has managed to perform a census of Elforche's estates accurately, however, Elforche has noticed their investigation and has not taken kindly to such meddling. They sent a letter to the Ferran family warning them not to do such a thing again. Ferran has discovered that Elforche owns the following:
Elforche Family Estate, Elforche Cabinetry and Craftsman Business, Elforche Private Forest (burned down, now just a patch of stubble), Elforche Mines, Elforche Mining Museum, Elforche Fortune Teller, Elforche Private Villa

Asura: -Not Quite Stable- 55
The stable was stabilized in a stable manner. Nothing major to note, other than that the building is no longer flimsy, and is ready for occupation, for all of Asura's two horses.

Asura: -Beastly Loot- 72
Xing, in his old age, along with several of Asura's most hardy guards, began the search in the Black Beast's cave for valuables. They found the bodies of the other Asuran guards scattered about the cave's opening, shredded nearly to bits and devoured by various scavengers. They also found a well-organised dwelling inside the cave consisting of crude furniture, a crude bed, and several furnishings throughout the cave, as if this Beast had been intelligent. In several crude storage chests they found an assortment of bloody garments and pieces of jewelry, perhaps from past victims of the Beast, and several broken arrow shafts and heads from previous battles, that the beast must have ripped out of it's flesh after retreating.

Asura: -Land Plotting- 48
Asura has located the landowner of the distant plot of land. While many would perceive it as being "No-man's land", an old Dabalian Priest has alleged possession of that area of land. Who knows where he got it from... Asura has not yet contacted the man about the land, or its cost.

Asura: -Armanus Investigation- 85
Armanus was accepting of the questions brought forth by the Asuran investigations, and has disclosed that he is planning to build an extension beneath his house, and his literacy students are helping him with this in return for extra literacy training. He also gave high-ranking Asuran members an invitation to visit his house at the end of next month, when he expects the project to be finished.

Asura: -Northe'rn Diplomacy- 71
Xijin and Northe met privately in Northe's personal dwelling beneath the Church of Northe, an ornate suite, well furnished and decently set up. Northe, although maintaining his renouncing of Asuran lineage, stated that he and the Medicants have no qualms with Asura's behavior currently. Northe was pleased by Xijin's visit, and relations between Asura and the Medicants have improved. Northe requests that Asura nominate a family member to the village Elders in the coming month of re-nomination, and support Northe and the Medicants as much as possible, as Northe informs Xijin that he suspects that the Village Elders are being influenced by the dark god. He also requests that Asura publicly support the Church of Northe, so that the Elders and the other families would stop being so suspicious of the Medicants, simply because they have power but aren't a family.

New Issues:

1. Fenris, representative of Ferran, has stepped forward. Ferran Stonework, the masonry business of the Ferran family, is offering to build Frye a stone wall, if the Village Elders are willing to pay them to do so. It would be a long project, but would allow Frye to be more safe in the event of military encroachment. A potential downside is that expansions to the village after the wall is built would have to either be outside the wall, or a new wall section would need to be built to enclose them. However, civilians would be more secure in a walled Frye.

Notable Events:

1. Lenora, wife of Xijin, of the Asura family, is expected to have her child this month. Rejoice, and celebrate new life! If we're lucky, Xijin may throw an extravagant feast in his wife's honor, in which case each family would bring a gift, as is the custom in Frye when a child is born to the head of a powerful family.

2. After the consensus of the village Elders, Northe has resorted to several unscrupulous tactics to spread his influence. He has begun to buy properties by proxy, "giving" his money in large chunks to his Medicant followers, who "personally purchase" houses, and then "give" the houses back to Northe. Thus Northe has been able to become an extensive landlord as well as a religious leader and head of the Hospital of Frye. He has also begun to preach and attitude of disestablishment against the powerful families as well as the Village Elders, proclaiming that the dark god may be using them by proxy, as they have begun to have great distaste for Northe and the Medicants, who only seek Frye's benefit. Resentment against the powerful families and the Elders has grown because of this, particularly among the young and the adherents of the Church of Northe.

3. Village Elder re-nomination has once again arrived in Frye. Those who wish to change their status in relation to the Village Elder council may do so. As this is a regular nomination period, current Elders will not be offended if the families nominate someone to take their place.

4. The time for the Elforche Mines trial has come upon us. The evidence will be laid forth. The Families who wish to have a say in this matter must present their claims this month before the Village Elders, and the trial will take place after all the evidence has been compiled and Elforche has made a response to any accusations. This month, each family is to present, if they so choose, any information that they believe pertains to the Elforche mines in this matter. After all evidence has been shown along with the families' opinions on whether or not Elforche should give up the mines, the trial shall take conclude. [This shall be treated similarly to a festival event.]

Here is a generalized breakdown of the financial and political situations of each family:

Elforche:

Reputation: In general, neutral. Slightly negative with those suspicious because of Lew's accusations about the "escape" at the mines. As Elforche has been stagnant for a long time, they have not done much to change their reputation.
Resources: Elforche enjoys a good stable income due to a profitable mine, which is under investigation, as well as a decent income generated from a private museum, and a craftsman industry which has stabilized after past... events...

Ferran:

Reputation: In general neutral, slightly suspicious, but a large positive reputation amongst all the adherents of Dabalia and Udebb'ha, after building their temple and church, respectively, which they greatly appreciated.
Resources: Ferran enjoys a large income from a burgeoning quarry and masonry industry, and a busy inn, as well as being the leading blacksmith business in Frye. In spite of recent expenditures, Ferran has a good sized monetary stockpile on hand.

Lew:

Reputation: In general positive, as Lew was responsible for a lot of the funds used in the hospital, and has been aiding farmers in ther efforts.
Resources: Lew enjoys a mild income from Shuidri silk as well as other animal products from their farms, as well as yearly crop from their crop farms. Lew has a fair-sized monetary stockpile on hand.

Asura:

Reputation: The Guards have helped increase their reputation with merchants and those of their kind, while brigands and their ilk dislike the Asuran guard efforts.
Resources: Asura has a fair income from their mercenary guild, and wage recompense from the Village Elders for the Guards they supply, as well as a growing income from their cobbler, the Truceful Mule. Constantly sending people into the forest and repeatedly attempting to master horse archery has drained a lot of money from Asura's coffers, leaving them with a meager amount of monetary resources on hand.

Tannell:

Reputation: In areas near the estate, negative, due to their injuries upon weapon development testers.
Resources: Tannell has a small income from the Eloquent Oak, barely enough to get them by their research and investigations. A small amount of money is also being recieved from Count Ashet for investigating his father's murder. Due to research in weapons and in expedition expenditures, they have barely any funds remaining.

Here is a short economic report concerning Frye itself (not as in-depth as a yearly report, but something to go on.)

Economically, Frye is doing quite well. Merchants from nearby areas sell wares in Frye, and local craftsmanship is burgeoning under the supports enforced by the Elders, such as the tariffs. Things have stabilized after the alcohol crash of the previous months, and back to normal.

In short, here are the current Issues that the Elders can vote on this month:

And so it would seem that the sixth month is upon us, a time of celebration of life and the warmth of summer. A perfect time to carry out intrigue without fear of any inclement weather...

Events:

Try to get members of Lew experienced with medicine hired in Northe's hospital because of the new medicine.

Figure out ehat Dabalians know about the fossils and the Beast Wars

Try to figure out which families Nor the dislikes and why, and explain to Northe that having the Elders vote on major things can help him gain trust among the Elders.

Explore outside of Frye, the villages of Trays, Shaake, and Donu, to figure out which village, if any, the escape route goes to. If evidence is found, present it at the trial.

Try to keep the Medicants unaware of the Shuldri.

Accept Asura's employment request.

Attempt to determine what allows one to do magic by seeing if the three magic users can teach each other(Implying any magic can be used by anyone with the ability to do magic), arson man(implying any random person can learn magic) or family member(if magic is hereditary then it would follow that the family that produced Nola could also do magic) their specialities.

Raid and burn Elforte's Museum (Deploy Arson and Brigands)

Burn down the Hospital, Northe's other holdings and preferably wherever he sleeps, while he sleeps.

Determine the moral compunctions of the magic users

Arrange for the brigands to raid the occasional shipment from the mine

Present the fossil as evidence of Elfortre hiding things, and potential monster infestations.

Well, I don't want to be The Villain, and designated loser, but I'm quite happy being an antagonist against the other four players with a chance of success if I play things right.
