Ecosystem / Waking Mars

Gameplay suggestions :

We have been wondering what gameplay options there could be in an evolution simulator
I have installed the Android version of "Waking Mars" today
(also downloaded the pc version, but this one does not seem to start)

The purpose of the game is to build an ecosystem, till you raise the biomass to a certain point
Then you get to enter the next cave, and get increasingly more difficult building blocks, and more complex ecosystems to build
It is very simple at the beginning, but gets very complex in the end
There is strategy involved into how to use the fertile spots, that also have different characteristics
And you never really control the environment, as there are also lifeforms other than plants, that move in all directions, with different harvesting strategies, some crawl, some fly

This seems like a really great concept
None of the lifeforms evolve though

I'm not sure you could build something like this, with evolving species
But it is a great example of how simply building an ecosystem can be kept interesting and challenging
I have always doubted this could be done, till today, now I am convinced it is possible

It does not fit very well into the multiplayer idea though, and could be difficult with truly evolving species
