Species has a bad framerate

Post by Alex47 » Mon Apr 07, 2014 4:08 am

Before Quasar makes the game any more complex, I would like to suggest that the average computer without an extremely fast processor is not able to handle the graphics and the environment, not the creatures, is the problem. Although I know the graphics quality is editable the trees, plants, and ground are taking up most of the computing power. So the world should be less detailed while the creatures get more detailed. Because with zero creatures it is just as slow.

You ask him to completely rework the engine to be more specialised as if it's rather easy. I've had a similar problem, but as mad as it may sound, Quasar and the team cannot work acts of magic.

I never said anything about reprogramming the engine. All I said was that I want an option to make the trees or ground less detailed if a checkbox is checked, because right now only the creatures can have less details as an option.

Your stating of the ground, which is a large coding bump, and the fact that you never mentioned what you wanted changed made me think you wanted a more optimised engine. Not sure what you expected us to think, though :I

This is true... Our lord is a very merciful one, which is likely the only reason why we yet live...
